Guardianships

There are two kinds of guardianships in Arkansas: guardianship of the person and guardianship of the estate. A guardian of the person is responsible for a ward’s physical needs such as food, shelter, and medical care. A guardian of the estate oversees a person’s finances and assets. A person may be appointed as guardian over a ward’s person or estate, or both.

Common circumstances needing a guardianship appointment are minors who receive property, and adults who have lost mental capacity.

Our guardianship attorneys understand the challenging issues involved in deciding whether to pursue a guardianship or a guardianship alternative. Schedule a consultation with one of our attorneys to discuss the options that are best for your family’s situation and your loved one’s needs.
